![]() There could be no better place to debut this american icon again than The Rolex 24 at Daytona. A return of the 1-2-3 finish from 50 years ago at Le Mans is not likely, but at least one Ford GT team on the podium would be a justification for all the work. ![]() Reliability is always a concern in new designs in LaMans racing, but the engine and drive train package has been run since 2014 so hopefully that is not an issue. ![]() With Ganassi Racing leading the on track development of this car there is little doubt with their talented stable of drivers that we will see this car at the front of the pack early and often. The car looks like more of a work of art than a beast about the take the LaMans world by storm in 2016. Creating down force keeping the rear wing smaller to save on drag. The air scoops behind the door replaced with an open design that flows air around the cockpit over the rear of the car. It looks like it is going 200 MPH as I open my laptop and see it as my screensaver. Everything about it is beautiful and functional. I had to look it up on line and play the video of it driving away so I could hear the exhaust. When I saw the new GT last year on TV it was like my wife watching Chris Hemsworth in Thor. A car designed in the 60’s, modernized but left outwardly the same in the 2005 has been updated for 2016 and beyond. The Ford GT is back, and as beautiful as ever. In this years Rolex 24 at Daytona I am going to be rooting for a car, I do not really care who is driving it. ![]() When watching most forms of racing you watch the races and root for the drivers. The Rolex 24 marks the return of the Ford GT and it’s better than anyone could have imagined. By Martin Feigen 7 years ago Follow Tweet ![]()
